Steps to Apply

NVIT  APPLICATION - REGISTRATION PROCESS:

Ø    Before you Apply:

Planning for College:

The most successful college students plan well before they arrive. Make sure you consider your personal, academic and financial readiness to attend NVIT.

If you have questions about getting started contact one of our Academic Planners, who can help make sure you're prepared for college life. 

 

Becoming a Student at NVIT:

Before you apply:

·      Do you satisfy NVIT’s admission policy? Do you know what program you are applying for?

·      Do you have the program's admission requirements? 

·      Do you still have questions about academic advising?

·      Do you still have questions about financial aid or getting funding?

 Ø    How to Apply:

Step 1 :      Fill out an Application

                    -          You can apply online using the Post-Secondary Application Service of British Columbia (PASBC) 
                          
www.pas.bc.ca or download an application form.   
                  Hard copy applications can be sent to the Office of the Registrar at the campus you plan on attending.

Step 2 :      Submit Transcripts:

                    -  Submit *Official Transcripts to NVIT (*An official transcript is sealed and sent directly from the issuing institution to NVIT.)  

                    -    High school students: If you are applying to come to NVIT directly from high school please provide us 
                        with your current high school transcripts.
 

Step 3:       Supporting Documents:

             -  Please ensure you check whether your program requires any other supporting documentation besides 

                       official transcripts;

                    -  If you need assistance contact an Academic Planner;

                -  Once the supporting documents are received they will be assessed to ensure the program requirements are met; 

Ø   After you Apply at NVIT:

You will Receive an your Application Status:

                    -          If applicant meets all requirements a full offer of acceptance letter will be sent to them from the
                           Registrar’s Office; 

                    -
         
If applicant does not meet the requirements a conditional offer letter will be sent and application will 
                           stay at pending until all required documents are received;

You will Receive an Eligible to Register Acceptance:

                    -          As soon as registration is open students will receive an eligible to register letter from the Registrar’s 
                           Office including NVITConnect Registration Steps and Tips, on how to register on NVIT Connect (*see 
                           information below What is NVIT Connect);

Note:  Continue to NVIT Connect to register for your courses . Accepted application does not mean you are automatically 
                   enrolled in your classes. 

Ø   Searching & Registering for Classes at NVIT:

Searching for Classes at NVIT:

                    -          You will need to use NVIT’s user friendly database, NVITConnect, to search for course offerings;

Note:  You do not need to be a student to search our database for courses, sign into NVIT Connect as a guest and 
                   search the database to see what the course offerings are; 

What is NVITConnect:

              -     NVIT Connect is a user friendly database offered by NVIT to assist potential and current 

                             students in managing their personal and education records. 

                    -       Students can access NVITConnect from NVIT main website at  
www.nvit.bc.ca then select
                                         the NVITConnect button.

                    -       Anyone can search NVITConnect to see the course offerings at NVIT on both campuses. Students of 

                                        NVIT can search for courses; register for courses; up-date contact information; 

                    -      Students can also use NVIT Connect to:

                          ·      Add/Drop courses;

                          ·      Print registration statements including invoice on NVIT Connect;

Registering for Classes at NVIT:

Step 1 :   Sign into NVITConnect

                     -     Go to the Student Menu – Proceed to the Registration Menu and select Register for Sections:

This menu has two options: Express Registration (if you know the exact course and section 
                                      information) OR use Search and Registe
r for Sections;

Step 2:   Register for Courses

                             -       Upon completion you will be registered in your courses, unless there is a problem with  the registration 

                            (e.g. classes are full or you do not meet the  prerequisites to take the course);

                     -     If there is a problem you can call the Registration Office for assistance;           

                     -     Once you are registered into courses you officially become an NVIT student.

 

Require assistance with Registration:

                     -          Students requiring assistance with which courses to register in should contact an Academic Planner for 
                            advice;

                     -          Students requiring assistance with registering on NVITConnect need to contact the Registration Office.
